About this Role:

This position will have regional oversight of various projects and initiatives to achieve organizational goals and deliver results. This role will require engagement and alignment with global business teams, finance operations, operational teams, system developers and project managers.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with fundamental knowledge accounting standards and proven record of delivering results through strong program management skills, problem solving skills, financial process and system knowledge.

The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous and demanding work environment is critical to success in this role.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Manage and prioritize projects to achieve the department’s goals and vision by working with project managers and/or business owners.
  • Manage 6+ associates at different levels.
  • Escalate any risks and resource needs in a timely manner. 
  • Ensure appropriate resources are aligned to deliver results
  • Perform SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) on a regular basis, at least annually
  • Play a critical role in setting each year’s goals
  • Represent key meetings such as Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Review, for leadership
  • Collaborate with other teams to achieve overall goals
  • Oversee the revenue accounting and reporting and ensure the following:

 Job Requirements:

  • Licensed CPA or chartered accountant
  • Minimum 6 years Big 4 audit firm experience (or in a multi-national company in a managerial capacity) 
  • Highly proficient in IFRS and accounting practices
  • Strong business acumen in the field of retail and e-commerce
  • Superior spreadsheets skills and a good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong managerial skills
  • Possesses good leadership qualities and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with SAP is a plus 
  • Revenue transactions are reported properly, completely and timely in the relevant financial systems particularly accurate business channel and product line reporting of revenues.
  • Continuous improvement to revenue accounting especially automation of processes to assign or allocate revenues to product lines and business channels.
  • All revenue recognition policies are in accordance with IFRS and Group accounting policies. Assessment of the revenue recognition requirement of all new products/services and ensure accounting and recording is in accordance to IFRS and Group accounting policies.
  • Oversee the seller services operations and accounting and ensure the following:
  • User payments are timely and properly done. Ensure adequate controls are in place and monitored to avoid incorrect/fraudulent user payments.
  • User wallet transactions are properly, completely and accurately captured in the financial ledgers. This will entail proper monitoring of all wallet related transactions and its recording to SAP ledgers.
  • Continuous improvement to seller services operations and accounting including full automation of processes.
  • Assessment of impact to seller accounting of new business processes, new systems and new tech products to ensure proper accounting processes are in place.
  • Promulgating accounting policies related to revenues, receivables and user wallets to ensure that all transactions are recorded in accordance with IFRS and to ensure that the department’s objectives are met such as ensuring accuracy of receivables, ensuring that customer receivable balances can be periodically reconciled with third parties, among others.
  • Reporting to management key metrics related to AR, revenues, and user wallets relevant to making management decisions.
  • Liaise with External and Internal audit teams in the review and audits of balances and processes related to receivables, revenue and user wallets accounts and processes.
  • Coach staff members of the team and ensure optimum professional development.
